Event: Caring for our Bodies, Nurturing our Stories

Sun, 4 December 2022, 11:30 – 16:00 GMT

Boilerhouse at The Hidden Gardens 25A Albert Drive Glasgow G41 2PE

In this gathering led by Mele Broomes and Martha Adonai Williams, we will use movement and an approach drawn from narrative therapy called Tree of Life to create a deeper connection between our bodies and our minds and explore new ways of caring for ourselves and others.

Tree of Life is a process developed by South African psychologist Ncazelo Ncube-Mlilo that supports us to discover our stories of strength and power, inviting more possibility, growth and connection. During this gathering, we will use elements of this method to explore and share our stories, encourage each other and notice where our roots and branches intersect, or could, and how this strengthens us as a community.

This workshop will not be a group therapy session but will offer you tools that you may find useful for self and community care and reflection. This workshop will not be suitable for anyone who is currently in crisis.

Food and drinks will be provided to keep you nourished throughout the day.

The venue will be fully wheelchair accessible. If you have other accessibility requirements please send us a message ahead of the day.

Please take a COVID test before attending and do not attend if you test positive for COVID.

This is a free event for African, Afrodescendant and Black folk.
