Podcast Launch!
We’re so excited to launch our new podcast!
This is a space where we invite Black organisers into conversation to share their knowledge, rooted in Black liberation. We hope the space will exist as a resource for peer-to-peer learning among Black activists, whilst archiving our past, present and future.
Space to Dream: Radical Imagination, Black Joy & Burnout
Our first episode features Grace Sodzi-Smith discussing The Black Radical Imagination with Euella Jackson. Using Grace’s Master’s research as a starting point, they share thoughts on Black joy, activist burnout in a UK context, and sustaining arts activism.
Autogenerated Transcript.
Grace is an expert in finance, strategy and operations for grassroots groups/movements. Alongside this, her research interests are arts activism, social innovation and the Black Radical Imagination. For work, she found her calling in bespoke back office support, where she could help others maximise their impact while keeping the administrative gremlins at bay. She strives to nurture a space that’s both structured and flexible, a safety net for the eccentrics and idealists to leap into their grand visions. Her passion lies in mentorship – guiding individuals to fulfil their practical needs and discover the very essence of their visions.
Euella Jackson is an award-winning presenter, creative producer and film-maker based in Bristol. She describes herself as a "disruptive storyteller" advocating for work that centres social justice, community and challenging the status quo. She balances this with her work as the Co-Director of Rising Arts Agency CIC, supporting underrepresented young people to use creativity to create social change and meaningful opportunities to thrive as leaders, artists and consultants.
